Our Story

Morris Moore always dreamed of getting back to his roots of farming. His early years were spent working with
his grandfathers on their farms raising row crops and beef cattle. This instilled a passion for the land and
a great appreciation for nature and the outdoors. After a career in corporate finance, he purchased land and
founded Mooreland Farms with five heifers purchased from a local registered Black Angus herd.

The inspiration for the farm was to provide healthy and nutritious beef for his family and friends. After additional
land acquisitions, he began to develop the infrastructure to support the cattle operation. This included fencing,
watering systems, and a storage barn. He also planted his pastures in highly diverse forages that would
provide a wide variety of nutrition for the cows. The herd, which is a cow/calf operation, was then expanded to
provide our high quality locally grown beef to a wider audience.

After watching her dad grow in his knowledge of non-conventional, regenerative agriculture, which included
rotational grazing and the use of the animals and forages to build soil biology, Kathryn's interest was peaked.
She began to spend time with him on the land taking care of the animals and attending cattleman's
meetings. As they spent more time together on the farm, Morris taught her the ins and outs of the operation
and they became quite the daddy-daughter duo!

Today, we are continuing to expand the infrastructure and grow our herd. We recently installed a solar powered
well to provide water on a remote area of the farm where we are developing additional pastures. We are
focused on expanding our knowledge of regenerative agriculture and additional ways to better care for our soil
and animal health.
